Errol Flynn

Film
After his title role in Captain Blood
(1935) he shot to overnight stardom. His flamboyant charm
and dashing magnetism quickly established him as the new swashbuckler
in Hollywood as he effortlessly portrayed a legion of heroic
characters. Flynn's off-screen life was, incredibly, even
more colorful than his movies. He was notorious for his drinking
and unabashed womanizing. Two famous quotes from Flynn were
"I like my whisky old and women young" and "I
intend to live the first half of my life. I don't care about
the rest." The common American phrase "In Like Flynn"
is a reference to Flynn's success with woman. He made over
60 films but in the 1950s his star status greatly declined.
Born in Tasmania he claimed to be Irish
as he didn't think anyone would have heard of his country of
birth.
