The sisters got their break on the Lawrence Welk show in 1955 where they performed for thirteen years. They were dubbed "American Sweethearts of Song" and outside of the Lawrence Welk show they toured the country endlessly playing State Fairs, charitable concerts,The Lennon Sistersconventions and church concerts. From 1960-1964 Diane left the group to get married but later rejoined them. In 1968 they went on their own. In 1969 they had their own show Jimmy Durante Presents: The Lennon Sisters. Still they were guests on nearly every variety show on television and have performed for six U.S. Presidents. In the 1970s they toured regularly with Andy Williams and also performed on his television show. The Lennon's trace their roots to Co. Cork, Ireland.
