Tyrone Power

1914-1958

Film

Both of TTyrone Poweryrone Power's parents were notable stage actors and his great grandfather was William Tyrone Power, a stage comedian in Ireland. His grandfather was a concert pianist. So it was not surprising that Tyrone would find himself as one of Americas favorite actors. He began acting in school and after high school he joined his father who gave him some acting lessons and advice. Tyrone's film career began in 1932, but it was his role in Lloyds of London (1936) that brought him overnight success. He made 51 films along with various radio, TV and theater appearances. He served as a pilot in World War II and between 1942-1945 he logged eleven hundred hours with a considerable amount under enemy fire.
